What's been happening??
Last year in October / November, McDonald Api-Api was doing renovation. The whole fast food restaurant was closed temporarily for renovation and a huge banner was hung outside to inform all consumers. Since I'm working part time in Center Point Sabah, I often passed by the restaurant. Of course there were many workers in and outside the building doing the renovation work. And it was quite dangerous for those who pass by near the building since bricks or anything might fall from top of the building. I was thinking how risky it is to close the restaurant for renovation because they will not gain anything for as long as the renovation is in progress. But within a month (early November/December), McDonald is back to business again.
I didnt take photo of the renovation work progress (I was not interested & it didnt cross my mind to take picture bah) but I snapped a few photos of the restaurant after the renovation. It looks very exclusive and nicer, however lost its previous image as a happy place for kids to dine in and have fun. I guess that's what they are trying to convey now - that McDonald Api-Api is not just a place for kids to dine in, it's also a place for people to meet up, to chill out and dine in after work / college / school and so on.
With many lights filling the whole restaurant at night, McDonald Api-Api really looks beautiful. To be honest, I like the new look of McDonald since the modern look really ngam now that it is no longer in the 90s. It's just that during day time, the restaurant looks as if it is closed when it is actually open for business. The reason why is because the restaurant is painted in dark colours. However, I still prefer the new look since it looks more modern and creative compared to the previous look which has more red and yellow hue.
McDonald Api-Api used to have a very spacious dining place on 1st floor, plus the quite spacious 'playground' for kids. Now it has only a small playground for kids (see picture below) which was not filled with kids when I went there to have a late supper.
Because of that smaller playground, they have added more tables and chairs. However in my personal opinion, I think that it makes the whole place looks smaller. But of course it's an advantage for them because there are many more tables for customers to dine in.
Apart from that, there is one closed area on 1st floor which I guess is for those who wanna have private function/celebration. It is definitely cooler inside, which I like, but too bad they will close the place before 12am to do cleaning / something every Monday midnight. Well as far as I know, the last time I went there, the workers have already done cleaning inside the room even before 11.30pm. We were very disappointed because we didnt know that. Since it's a 24-hour dining place, so we thought they wouldn't do something like that.

When I was younger, my family (my sister, mum and aunt) and I often went to McDonald Api-Api after church. The place was like the ultimate playground for me and the food there become my favourite until today. The fries, burgers, nuggets, ice creams and pies cant compare to any other. I remember last time, there was this one machine where you can select to play music that you want to listen. It was the one thing that attracted me and I used to browse all the songs and tried to memorize the title. Haha. :D

The rest of the pictures below were taken when I was younger but a bit older than the rest of the pictures taken above. ;D

Those are indeed very sweet memories. Even if it stays as memories, but I will keep them in my heart.
