.Little Italy.

Charlt had been telling me a few times before that the real pizza is not as thick as those pizzas we often see at Pizza Hut. But I know the type of pizzas in Pizza Hut are delicious since it is thick and soft. So feeling just a little curious, I invited Charlt to go dine in Little Italy with me.

When we reached there, we sat near the glass window and the waiter gave us the menu. It was so confusing because there were a lot of words and pictures and most of the name of the dishes are in Italian language. I was looking for a mouth-watering pasta meal but could not find any. So I changed my mind and started looking for lasagna instead.

One type of lasagne caught my attention and we chose that one, which is Lasagne di Pollo (chicken lasagne). After that we decided to get a regular pizza for lunch as well. So Charlt picked Little Italy Pizza which has anchovies, mozzarella cheese etc (I cant remember! LOL!). For dessert, I picked Chocolate Mousse though I planned to get Tiramisu cake in the first place. Hehe. Last but not least, we both picked Iced Peach Tea as our drinks. =)

Chocolate Mousse

Our small table near the window. the pizza's really BIG!

This is the single pizza slice. Yummy!

BIG crunchy & salty pizza =)

Lasagne di Pollo. When cheese is your favourite food, this is the best!

Iced Peach Tea. Very refreshing.

We didnt finish the whole pizza; we left 4 slices of it. But honestly we were full with the lasagne and iced peach tea alone, you know! And the whole thing costs me less than RM 90! We definitely going back there to try out some other types of dish! ;)

.Sign Language.

Just the other Saturday night, after mass, me and Charlt went to KFC in Tanjung Aru to have dinner while waiting for his sister. After we had made our decision, I told the staff at the counter our choices. She did not say a word, instead she used sign language to let me know that she cant speak or hear. I did not know that all the staff there are using sign language to communicate. Feeling so embarrassed that time, I straight away mentioned that I did not know about that and proceeded to make my order.

While waiting for our order, Charlt mentioned that he learned sign language before. But due to lack of practice, he has forgotten most of the sign language. After we got our meal, we picked a small table near the wall. While eating, we noticed the sign language graphics on the wall. Only then I realized those tiny pictures of sign language. Haha. Suddenly Charlt mentioned to me that it would be great if he can learn sign language again and it will be easier to communicate with them. Then I thought to myself, hey, that's true. We always have the desire to learn another language, why dont we learn sign language as an additional language to communicate?

A few days later, a group of four tourists from Japan came to dine in Kenny Rogers Roasters. I didnt know that they are deaf and dumb. I just thought maybe they had sore throat and cant talk for the time being. But I was wrong. They even communicate with each other using sign language. After some time, I took their orders and it was a tough one as it was hard to explain to them about the menu. However I guess they could understand me eventually. That was when I realized it is important to learn sign language as another language. But it's kinda rare to see normal people have the interest to learn sign language, isn't it? =)

A Challenging Situation

I know it has been awhile since the last update of my blog. God knows how many drafts I saved online but cannot publish it because I simply cannot continue the story anymore (I actually cannot remember what exactly happened after a few days or maybe a week after the event. Yeah I have a terribly weak memory. Hmmm...).

Well, I just wanna share about an incident that happened to me where I was very pissed off with a customer. I know I learnt that customers are always right in college, but if the customer/customers is/are being rude, I dont really wanna care bout whatever I learnt in college.

So on that day, I was working as usual and there were not many customers in the restaurant. A father and son walked in the restaurant and my colleague took order from them, while I was busy taking order from foreign customers.

After sometime the father (who was grumpy and talked loudly on the phone when they first walked in) and son (his son is still in primary school) asked me for 2 more soups. I saw on the table already had two chicken soups. I didnt even bother to ask whether he only wants the soups or other meal, and he didnt mention anything else.

After the chicken soups arrived and I was doing other stuff, suddenly he called me again and asked for his meal. I was quite confused because I was not the one who took the order in the first place. So I went to the cashier and checked his bill. There was no meal ordered. So in confusion, I asked my colleague (who took the order from him) just to confirm whether he had ordered his meal or not. Without answering me, my colleague went off to ask the customer. So I continued my work once again.

After his meal arrived, suddenly he called with an angry tone and again I went to his table because no other server seemed to be free that time. Bad luck for me, he complained about his meal again. This time he was complaining with a loud voice and demanding for rice. I felt weird because why on Earth did he not get rice in the first place, if he had really asked for rice already? I saw that there were already 3 side dishes on his plate, so I asked him whether he wants to add on the rice or not. He didnt understand why he should add on the rice because he thought Kenny Rogers Roasters (KRR) memang serves the roasted chicken together with rice. So I explained to him.

Suddenly he raised his voice and started complaining again. He was talking in a different accent (definitely not Sabahan or Sarawakian accent) and he was looking here and there while talking, so I couldnt hear clearly whatever he said. So I said 'sorry' because I couldnt hear him. Then he shouted at me asking whether I'm Sabahan or not and whether I'm a Malaysian or not. He purposely shouted at me in front of all those foreigners (from Germany if I'm not mistaken) and asking why do I have to speak in English with him. I was surprised because I didnt speak ALL English to him. I was just using words such as 'a-la-carte', 'side dishes', 'muffin' and 'sorry' only. WTF?! The father was wearing a formal outfit with a modern technology gadget; so I thought he must be fluent in English. Who knows...!

I was so embarassed because there were a lot of customers who were looking at us. Even my manager was looking at the both of us. I can feel my face was so burning hot I think it melted and dripped on the floor. I almost raised my voice too and shouted back at him but luckily I didnt lose my grip. So I went off and returned to give him a-la-carte rice. This time he complained again that it was way too much food and that he couldnt finish them all. So he took a little bit of rice and asked me to take the rest of it. I was so pissed off I almost threw the whole bowl of rice on his face.

After the incident, I was so furious and angry that I refused to go to his table to tend to him. I let my other colleagues to do the job. After some time, I overheard his conversation with his young son. They were mentioning about the food they ordered and His Own Son's Mistake to Order Wrongly! After he knew that it was his son's mistake instead of ours (the staff of KRR), he called my colleague and apologized for whatever that happened. He didnt apologise to me directly of course, but even if he did, I might put on my 'linsi' face to him. Also he mentioned that it was his first time to dine in KRR and he didnt know how to order, he is just an orang kampung (yadayadayada) and only his son is used to dine in there. Yeah, whatever~ I just totally didnt care whether he's going to come back to KRR or not, I was just completely mad and couldnt care less about anything else but to get my 'face' back.

I wish I can give customer service such as the cartoons below. Muahahaha!!!

This (cartoon below) is really one of the best! I think everyone who works in the customer service industry should own one gun, at least! xD
(Just kidding, of course!)

on second thought, maybe I dont wanna be any one of them cuz Im gonna be a customer too. ;)

Studying, Working and.....?

I'm exhausted! I stood all day and got my rest only just now at 11.20pm. Whew~! (Well, I did have my rest way before that, at about 1.10pm.)

In the morning, I had Kitchen Preparatory class which requires me to cook a/a few dish/dishes according to the recipes given. I admit I learnt & gained a lot of knowledge from Chef Ka and also one of my seniors.

In the kitchen, we were required to do the mise en place or prepare all the ingredients needed before we start cooking. During this time, I learnt chopping, slicing and mincing from a senior. It was really fun and easy, but to be a pro, I still need a lot of practise. =)

After we have prepared everything, Chef Ka (the chef-in-charge that time) asked one of us to cook the rice. (Oh, I forgot to mention that we were required to cook Mi Goreng Mamak & Nasi Goreng) At first he asked one of the boys to cook, but he went off to wash his hands. So Chef Ka pointed at me instead.

During that time, I was so nervous already. I felt that I was going to embarass myself. Anyway, I went in front and did as he directed me. Of course I am afraid of fire, but I'll be a dumbass if I refused to go in front of the stove and start cooking. I mean, if my fear stop me from learning, then what's the purpose for me to go to college and study and learn and blablabla? =p

Being the first one to try to do the dish (Nasi Goreng), with no experience whatsoever, I didnt do it well. I mean it was okay, but I dont feel satisfied. It was because I saw another one of my senior did it so well till I feel so envy and amazed and in awe and, and, and... Hahaha..

Even the students after me were doing it well. Argh, nevermind. There's always room to improve bah. (After everything was done, there was a scene. It was because of responsibility. We were supposed to clean up the utensils and everything, but 90% of them didnt. So blablabla and 2 guys almoooossstt fight with each other but luckily Chef Jack came and talked to the both of them and everything was alright afterward).

After that class, I went off to have a rest because I was very exhausted. My legs feel so weak
even until now
because I stood for a long time. Haiz. So yeah, I know I missed a class after that. (Miss, if you're reading this now, I'm so sorry I M.I.A. just now.)

So at 5pm sharp, I reached my workplace. Yesh, workplace. I'm studying and working (part time) at the same time. I know it's challenging, I know it's tiring. But first day is looking good, though it's so tiring and killing me. I'm happy; it's amazing. I feel happy I'm doing this now. I mean I'm happy I can study and work at the same time. But in the long run, I dont know how I will feel.

Of course I was a bit kelam-kabut and blur just now when I first started my work (though I've worked in that place before this), cuz I've been there for only 1 month. That was in February or March 2007. It means I've left the place for 34months or almost 3 years. What do they expect from me? Of course I cant remember everything! And definitely there will be mistakes everywhere! I have so many things and memories and formula to remember during these 3 years. Hahaha.. But anyway, I enjoyed working there. It was fun. Yah, I can say fun lah. Hehe.

My sis is here!

Yeah, finally my sis decided to come back to her hometown and visit her family there. Haha. I was very excited because I miss her a lot! The night she came home from West Malaysia, I missed the chance to join my parents to fetch her from the airport. I only met her when I came home that night. I was really tired and sleepy, but I didnt sleep as soon as I reached home. Instead, I talked to her and tried the short pants and skirt that she got for me. The next day, I had class so I went to college as usual. In the evening, I joined my sis, my aunt & my mum for shopping spree in Giant Central Plaza. Again, I was extremely exhausted but I wanted to join them (It almost felt like I havent met them for a really long time). A day after that, I still have class. But luckily my class until about 1pm. So later I joined them (my sis, aunt & mum) in 1 Borneo.

When I reached there, I saw several changes were made since my last visit. I used to work there till May last year, and now I feel like I wanna work there again. After all there are more customers and visitors now. But I should just forget about it and concentrate on my studies now. By the way, I forgot to mention that I went back to my high school to take a cert a day before that. Like 1B & many other places in KK, the physical of my high school changed a lot too.

When we were in 1B, I went to a shop & showed my sis the Indian costume that I want. I'm going to wear that for my friend's engagement day (ngam-ngam on Chinese New Year lagi tu. 14 Feb. I'm actually not sure whether I can go or not. But I'll just buy everything just in case I can go), because the guy has a little bit of Indian blood while the girl has a little bit of Philipino blood, and the theme mentioned about Indian & Philipino traditional clothes. Nice eh? =D Oh, by the way, the name of the Indian costume is Salwar Kameez (for male is: Dhoti Kurta) and it is VERY nice. But...in the end I picked the other clothes which look like Kadazan costume (but I guess it's supposed to be a modified version of Salwar Kameez) because I cannot afford the Salwar Kameez. Huhu. Nvm. I'll buy a Saree next time. Nyahaha. ;D

After tired of walking around in 1B (and my aunt was rushing to go back home), we decided to get out of 1 Borneo. My aunt & mum went back home, while me & my sis went to Likas Square.

Yeah, that's me (still in my uniform) & my sis

This is the Salwar Kameez that I wanted so badly.

Finally bought this for myself.
It doesnt even look like an Indian clothes.
Instead it looks like Kadazan costume. Dont you think so? Hmm...

One of the Kadazan costumes

I've no idea why I posed like that...

Yeah I know we dont look alike.

...but I guess I'm still manja with her. ;>

Owh yeah, we're sisters. Haha. ;)

This is my 6th 'house', I guess. ;p

1st day of Sem. 2

Exhausted!! My body is screaming and asking me to go to bed now, but my mind & eyes said "be cool, you can have your rest later. Update blog first". Hahaha.

Today is my 1st day in ATIC for 2nd semester. It was a great day actually. I didnt know that Lecturers of Semester 2 will be so cool and funny. Well, I really enjoyed my class today.

First 2 periods were for Food Safety & Sanitary (FSS) class. Lecturer in charge is Sir Hubert. When we first walked in, he was already talking but he didnt scold us or warn us for being late. I guess it was because all the classrooms shifted to the new building (oh I forgot to mention this in the beginning, right?), and made it difficult to find the exact classroom for FSS subject.

ok. So, about the lecturer - Sir Hubert, he has a serious face but once he asks us to imagine this and that, we really couldnt stop laughing. He's such a nice and cool lecturer. (Well, for the time being). The way he talks really reminds me of a friend. I couldnt stop giggling when I think bout that. Hehe. Also, he made me feel that I didnt pick the wrong course. He made me feel like I want to love Pastry Arts much more than before! =)

We had FSS class until 11 something. After that we had no class at all until almost 3pm. So during that period, I went to have my lunch and rest.

Class resume at 3 something and I was totally surprised to see a chinese guy in the classroom. He was the person-in-charge when I retook my exam last year. He too has a serious face. Oh, I forgot to mention his name. He is Sir Harland.

This time though, the classroom got a majority of Chinese students. Most of them are my seniors (different courses of course).

So, after attendance, Sir Harland started his lecture. I already held my breath & waiting to listen to his serious lecture when he opened his mouth. But I'm amazed to know that he's such a cheerful & happy person all throughout our lesson. I noticed he smiled & laughed a lot. And he didnt even give a damn if the class is noisy or nobody listens to him or some students online or sms or whatever. His smile will still be there. And another amazing thing is that, though it seemed like nobody listens to him, but he will get a reply eventually from a few students. And that's when his smile is on his face again. =)

I remember he said today "I dont care if you want to sms somebody during my class, but remember to put your phone in silent mode." and "I just want to finish my syllabus. Then you all can go home 1 hour earlier or 1 & a half hour earlier." Cool~~ I like him! =D

I hope that this year....

Finally I'm home and got the chance to update my blog.

Well, as a start, I just wanna write about my hope for this year. (I wonder why I didn’t think of this on New Year’s day. I mean on 1st of Jan). I know life’s not gonna be any easier than the year before; since my schedule is kinda pack during weekdays compared to last sem, and there are a lotta things that I myself have to deal with, especially in financial area. I have to learn to stand on my own feet no matter what. But anyway, I’m positive that I will be able to get through all those and make some changes this year. Well, finger-crossed.

I can’t deny that I have a very long list of things that I wana do and things that I hope I can change this year. But I’ll just make it short and simple and just mention some of ‘em here. One of those is get a car for myself. I got my license since January last year, but never even driven a car till now. (How pathetic). I’m just afraid that I’ll forget how to drive a car when I get the ‘real’ license January next year if I don’t start practicing now.

The next thing is I hope I can fund my own college fees. I don’t know how I’m going to do that, but I’ll figure out a way. Miraculous things do happen sometimes, don’t they?

Besides that, I really should work on anger management. I’m not a person who usually let my temper flares up, but when something hurtful is said or done, then I will keep on thinking bout it till my anger becomes outta control. Since I know that my bad-temper is very destructive to my relationship with people around me, so I must learn how to cope with that. Or else, I'll be mad over things that were actually just a misunderstanding.

Basically, that is it. There are more, but I’ll keep the long list to myself. =)
