My 2nd B'day, UMS Pesta Tanglung & 1st day of college

1/10/2009 (Thursday)

*(Oopss messy background... Juz ignore that... x) Hoho)*

On the 1st of October, I finally celebrate my birthday with my family. Well, there are reasons why we chose to celebrate that day instead of on the 29th of September. Actually it was simply because there were only 3 of us (me, mum & dad), so we gonna be real bored cuz they themselves pun boring (LOL! kidding~). Since my eldest brother planned to go home on the 1st (Thurs), so mum and me decided to celebrate on that day instead. Well, quite a coincidence as I will not be at home on the 29th of Sept.

So, just a brief description of that day: I celebrated my 2nd birthday without birthday song (because I said I dont want it) and straight away cut the cake and then put the whole cake away cuz everyone was full after the dinner. LOL! What a celebration!

On the 2nd of October, UMS held the first Pesta Tanglung ever in line with the Mooncake Festival. It wasnt really a fantastic event (as I didnt stay there long), however I did enjoy my time there as I got the chance to meet and talk to a few of my friends (we didnt see each other for quite a long time already). And one funny thing, one of my friends bought rambutans instead of rice when most of us bought rice for dinner! lol. Tiakan bah tu. Haha. Ok, I have no idea what else to write about the event. LOL. =D

Whereas today (5th of October) was my first day in college. At first I thought I was late, but the fact is a few people were even later than I. LoL. Well, the day started out quite confusing as I didnt know what to do or where to go. Since the lady told us all who are taking diploma courses to go one same place, so we all went without being separated from our courses.

Afterward was the session of welcome note by SAC and then a speech by the ACEO. Later, the Head of Disciplinary Board briefed us for an hour just on the rules and regulation which made me feel so sleepy till I fell asleep in the hall. LOL. I was sitting at the front row lagi tu. Haha. Next was the enrollment briefing and that lady from Marketing Department talked so fast as if a bomb is gona explode in a few seconds if she didnt stop talking. LOL.

After all that, it was the time for school briefing of culinary/pastry. It was so much fun and interesting compared to all others. I was really bored to death before that. Haha. I remember 3 important things that the lecturer/chef told us. Firstly, chef and cook are very different from each other. Anybody can be a cook, but you'll have to learn & practise a lot of times to be an excellent chef. It requires the knowledge of science and also creativity of those who wana be a chef. That is why our courses are called as culinary arts and pastry arts. =)

Secondly, to be successful in this field, one must ignore whatever negative comments of others. One must never keep whatever negative remarks of others in his/her heart. He said must keep the attitude of "masuk telinga kiri, keluar telinga kanan". When I hear this, I thought "oh boy, this is gonna be a tough journey." And the last thing that I remember what he said was, even chef can get the 'doctor' title. LOL. At first I was thinking 'are you serious?' well, he was serious. A chef can be a 'doctor' if he/she pursue PhD in Gastronomy. =)

So in conclusion, though some people may say things that will disappoint and discourage me about the course that Im taking now, but a small assurance and motivation from several people is enough to convince me that Im doing something I love and it is not a mistake at all. =)
